Re: Announcement of MoreInfo 5.0 - Linked Information
Haverhill, Mass. - SilverWARE officially announced today MoreInfo 5.0 for
the Newton MessagePad. This is a major upgrade of its award winning integrated
contact manager and scheduling application. MoreInfo 5.0 is a powerful applicat
which seamlessly extends the Newton's built-in applications making the Newton
a true contact manager. MoreInfo adds these features in such a way that
when using it, you will not know where the built-in features end and MoreInfo
begins. MoreInfo has been designed to anticipate your every move and provide
you with the vital information you need to manage your numerous contacts
and busy schedule.
This 5.0 version brings many new features to this already powerful application.
MoreInfo continues its reputation of providing unique, state of the art
features by now allowing users to display a graphical view of a week's meetings
and events. This view allows users to easily find available time slots and
schedule new meetings. It also allows rescheduling of existing items by
simply dragging them. Also new to the product is the Day-by-Day view which
groups all of a days meetings, events, to-dos and calls in an easy to read
format. Users can quickly switch between the Day-by-Day view and At a Glance's
partitioned view. The partitioned view breaks up the display into three
sections; 1) meetings and events, 2) to-dos and 3) calls. New to this version
is a fourth partition, Notes. Now, users can display notes within the At
a Glance view based on several different criteria (an example might be the
need to access a frequently used note). This note could then be set to always
appear in the At a Glance Notes section. Users can also display in this
section all of the notes linked to items that appear in the three other
sections.
MoreInfo has further enhanced its to-do slip in several exciting ways. A
to-do task can now be assigned a deadline which can then be used to monitor
ongoing to-dos. An alarm can then be assigned to a to-do relative to its
deadline. For instance one might need to be alarmed the day before an item's
deadline. The to-do slip now also keeps track of its original due date.
Since incomplete to-dos are rolled over, it is very valuable to know the
original date the to-do first appeared on your to-do list.
MoreInfo's logging feature has been greatly enhanced as well. MoreInfo now
allows the automatic logging of sent e-mails and faxes so that a log of
every item sent to a person can be saved. If one were to fax a note to a
person, a log entry for the person would be created with a link to the faxed
note. This is, of course, in addition to MoreInfo's current logging feature
of meetings, events and to-dos. This new version now allows those items
to be logged automatically, to be logged when a prompt is confirmed or to
be logged at a later time.
Each feature in MoreInfo 4.0 was carefully reviewed for improvements. Enhanceme
and new features can be found virtually throughout the product. Even MoreInfo's
internal linking mechanism has been redesigned so that links are in no way
effected by the future location of an item (different card or store). With
MoreInfo 5.0, there is no reason to worry if a link will be effected after
a restore from a backup or after moving your data to a different card. This
new linking architecture is independent of this. Included with the 5.0 upgrade
is a data updater which updates all of the links to this new, more powerful
format.
Just a few of the many new features are:
* Improved At a Glance screen. Now allows one tap creation of new items.
* Zooming in on a day via a single tap within the At a Glance screen.
* Customized filters in At a Glance that allow compound filtering.
* New "Print Spec" screen for At a Glance.
* Ability to record a custom sound which can then be used as an individual
alarm sound or can be made available as a global alarm sound.
* Improved interface for the customization of pop-up lists.
* Enhanced "New Card" slip.
* Enhanced link management (Powerful Break Links screen).
* New "Quiet" utility.
* Ability to convert from one item to another in meeting, event, to-do and
call slips.
* Default folder assignments for new items.
* Support of gray scale.
* Additional keyboard and keyboard shortcut support.
* Many, many new preferences.
This new version continues to integrate with PowerNames, SilverWARE's other
best selling product. MoreInfo 5.0 also integrates well with its FlightRecorder
program, which allows users to easily schedule plane flights and have them
appear in the built-in Date Book.
Pricing & Availability
MoreInfo 5.0 is scheduled to ship September 8th and will retail for $84.95

Prefs, At a Glance and Quiet. The upgrade will also contain an additional

SilverWARE was the first to introduce the concept of linking additional
information to the Newton. It announced MoreInfo in July 1994 and shipped
at MacWorld Boston in August 1994. MoreInfo's extensive features and ease
of use make it a must for every Newton user. SilverWARE is also the same
company that brought you the Newton utility, PowerNames, a companion product
to MoreInfo. A full working demo of PowerNames 2.1 is also available on
our web site, America Online and CompuServe. For more information contact:
