PowerNames 2.03
Kicks ass, takes names
SilverWare, the developers of MoreInfo, also market a Names enhancement
utility called PowerNames. It can be used either by itself or in conjunction
with MoreInfo to accelerate and simplify access to your frequently used
name cards. Like MoreInfo, PowerNames has a comprehensive Preferences section
to control every feature of the software, so tailoring it to your liking
is easy.
Names when you need them
PowerNames' primary function is to extend the functionality of the Names
button. You can set it to pop up a name card-specific find slip that automatically
lists the results for you. Scribble a few letters, tap on the name, and
you're there. This is far superior to the normal, slightly tedious, procedure:
When in the Note Pad, you can't use the Newton's Find function to find a
name card without searching through every soup, which can take forever.
So you tap the Names button, then you can use Find to get the card you want.
Come on, I don't have all day!
For those important contacts you are always looking up, PowerNames lets
you add a card permanently to your recent names menu for easy access. PowerNames
also extends the A-Z tabs found at the top of the Name File. Tapping on
a tab can now display a popup list of recent names and/or permanent names
starting with the letters of that tab.
MoreInfo enhancements
MoreInfo users will find their recently accessed names in a popup list when
using a MoreInfo meeting, event, or to do slip. Unfortunately, these names
are not available when you use the new call slip, though there are already
some recent names available from the Calls application. Anther MoreInfo
enhancement is direct access from the Find Names slip to new call, meeting,
and to do slips, each with the selected name and number filled in for you.
PowerNames is a nifty enhancement for anyone who's work revolves around
people p; and who's doesn't?
